#250: Cafe Habana, Greenside Place, Edinburgh

Cafe Habana, Greenside Place, Edinburgh (exterior)

Another guest post from Doug, cheers guv.

An Edinburgh institution on the gay scene, Cafe Habana claims to be Edinburgh’s premier gay bar although that might be the subject of much debate.

The interior is cheerful if a little rough around the edges but I doubt there will be many complaints. There is an area upstairs with a balcony no doubt providing a great vantage point on a busy evening.

Lively atmosphere with enthusiastic bar staff. The patio outside was pretty busy on this nice, sunny Tuesday evening.

The Bar

Cafe Habana, Greenside Place, Edinburgh (interior, bar)

All keg: Carling, Caledonia Best, Tennent’s Lager, Heineken, Strongbow dark fruit + original.

A range of bottled lagers and alcopops are also available from £1.50 to £3.60, mostly £3. Regular drinks promotions. Some of the best prices seen in this area.

Our round of a Hooch, a Desperado, a Carling and half a Heineken was £11.60. That comes out at about £3.31 per drink but is coincidentally almost exactly the average price of the draught beers, £3.28.

Crisps etc.

Karaoke, regular entertainment and DJ sets. Disco Balls!

Generous amount of outdoor seating, ideal for people watching, sunny spot too.
