#174: The Tron, Hunter Square, Edinburgh

The Tron, Hunter Square, Edinburgh (exterior)

The Tron reminds me of Scream pubs from 10+ years ago, or perhaps a John Barra’s. That’s not surprising, given that I think it used to be a Scream pub, but is still run by Mitchells and Butlers who used to own the Scream chain. It was a little tired looking.

The small-ish upstairs bar was quite quiet (Tuesday night 530ish), but the downstairs was busier, mostly with early 20-somethings so a bit like a student union. Downstairs is a lot bigger than you might expect, below street level and with various nooks and crannies, a pool table, second bar, and some odd split-level floor shenanigans. The music wasn’t to my taste, a mix of annoying tuneless pop, strangely some of which was from the 90s.

The Bar
