The Rat Pack is a basement piano and cocktail bar beneath Shandwick Place with a Las Vegas theme. The staff all wear black with red braces and trilby hats, and there’s a grand piano taking pride of place.
When we arrived (about 9:15pm on a Tuesday) we were the only people here, but things were picking up a little by the time we left. I suppose it’s quite busy at the weekend.
I liked the lighting in the tables. That central unlit bit lifts up to reveal what I assume is an ice bucket. In general it’s all lit very snazzily with spotights everywhere, but it was a little dim overall.
Not a lot of draught beers to choose from, but they’re a cocktail bar after all: Carling, Coors light, Belhaven Best, Guinness and Gaymers cider.
Here’s where I’d put in an indication of the cocktail prices, but I didn’t take notes on the night and their website is currently under renovation.
Our round was £10.10 for 2 Best and a Carling. Around £3.36 per pint, the second surprisingly cheap pint of the night.
None that we noticed.
Live music every night apparently, but it looks like a late start, hence why we found it so quiet. A quick perusal of Twitter showed things kicking off around 1030-11pm.
