I was really looking forward to this pub but had to miss out, so this is based on the rest of the crew’s comments and Russ’ photos. From the outside it looks like a proper old/working man’s boozer, and that’s been confirmed by tonight’s inspection team. Amy said it “still smelt like smoke but could have been the clientele. The walls certainly looked like they were smoke stained.” I have a severe soft spot for these sorts of places despite the lack of interesting beers.
No casks, but cheap kegs. From the photos I can see Caledonia Best, Tennent’s Lager, McEwan’s 70 and Guinness, but there are a couple missing, likely McEwan’s 80 and maybe a cider.
The round was £8 for a McEwans, a Best and a lager tops, for an average of £2.66 per pint. The beers were all £2.60 really, so the lager is to blame for the extra 20p.
No mention of food.
Apparently the music was good, “think it might have been ska, probably the jukebox but didn’t actually see it.”
There’s at least one TV, no doubt mostly for footy etc.
Too old school for that.
