Ok, so I’m not a cocktail bar kind of guy, you must have picked that up by now. We’ve done quite a few now on this tour and Lucky Liquor Co is winning hands down for me so far. Friendly and engaging bar staff, good music, understated decor and, for once, some interesting beer for the non-cocktail drinkers.
There’s a small front room at street level with about eight small tables. The bar is through the back with all white tiled walls on which they write the current specials etc. Downstairs there’s another room around the same size as the upstairs front room.
The stereo was playing classic James Brown and at the bottom of the coctail menu on the wall it says “bring your own vinyl” on Sunday nights.
Sister bars include Bramble Bar, also on Queen Street but well hidden, and the Last Word Saloon down towards (or even in) Stockbridge.
Another terrible photo.
By this point in the evening my notes were pretty sparse. I didn’t write down any of the beers, but the house beer is Alechemy’s Smoke In Your Rye (keg). There was a guest keg from Williams Brothers too I think. Sorry, that’s all I’ve got, any and all hints/corrections would be welcome in the comments below, thanks.
Cocktails range from £6.50 to £8.
The round was £12.40 for 3 schooners (2/3 pint) and a ginger beer. The ginger beer surely can’t be more than £2.50, so best case for the schooners is £3.30 a pop, scaling up to £4.95 a pint! That’s expensive, but I didn’t mind at the time because the Alechemy was wonderful. I don’t use italics very often.
I didn’t see anything.
