All Bar One is a chain of 48 bars across the UK. They’re part of the Mitchells & Butlers group, so bedfellows with Nicholson’s pubs, Toby Carvery, and Browns restaurants.
It’s full of office types and power dressers, a very corporate vibe. That’s not surprising considering it’s in the same building as Standard Life and Clydesdale Bank. It was sort of busy but we managed to get a table no bother.
No casks, but these kegs: Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Harviestoun Schiehallion, Aspall cider, Amstell, Peroni, Tennent’s Lager, Pilsner Urquell, Grolsch, Estrella Damm.
Small cocktail menu, all around £7 give or take a quid.
Our round was £19.90 for 4 pints of Schiehallion and an Irn Bru. Guessing at £2 for an Irn Bru, that’s around £4.50 per pint. Ouch.
Mains from £8.50 to £13, things like fish & chips, risotto, steak sandwich, Thai curry and a handful of different burgers.
Music: vacuous, anonymous tinny dance.
There’s a medium-sized patio outside which gets good use in the summer but not much sun due to the surrounding tall Standard Life buildings.
Sadly, yes, you can see the castle from outside.
